Reply to This #. I got a cheap Xerox Phaser 3117 but for my dissapointment, there were no drivers for Mac OS X. The solution is to install the Samsung GDI driver to use the printer. Once I did that, the printer worked like a charm. The Samsung GDI driver for Mac OS X is open source and can be found at. My new CLP-510 (same printer with networking card installed, I think) worked fine out of the box with the CD drivers, but it's nice to know of alternate solutions just in case.

I tried this and the Xerox drivers don't work for me in 10.3.8.
Mac OS X 10.4 - did not work for me either. Samsung support is totally broken in 10.4 - yes, I have an official copy, from Apple.....
I have a CLP-510N and it does not work via the BonJour setup or ipp. Printer Setup Utility finds the printer via BonJour and recognizes it as a CLP-510 (after I installed the driver), but when I print cupsd is unable to find 'myprinter.local' via mdns (had to turn on cups debugging in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf.
When I set it up with IPP in Printer Setup Utility, it connects and starts sending the document to the printer, then fails on an 'Invalid command' or something like that. On the plus side I was able to get it working as an LPR/LPD printer. Its not ideal, since it means more steps on each computer, at least its working.
Well, I tried using the driver for the Xerox Phaser 6100 which worked for a little while, then I started getting the error 'Process 'Rastophaser6100' terminated unexpectedly 'Signal 10'. Now I'm using the Samsung CLP-510 driver which is still on their website under Tiger and it's printing fine with all features.
Thank you ever so much!! I have a CLP-500 and was about to give it up as lost for lack of a driver that would work under Tiger. Now I can print from my new G5 thanks to you, after getting the CLP-510 driver.

hi all, i had no trouble with this printer with 10.6: downloaded the official Samsung driver (v3.00) from http://www.samsung.com/us/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP01&prd_ia_cd=&prd_mdl_cd=&prd_mdl_name=CLP-500, installed, all worked fine including changing the DPI settings. no access to the Duplex settings though.

10.4: A workaround to use the Xerox Phaser 6100/n
Samsung no longer provides a Mac driver for the CLP-500. But I've found that this Samsung CLP-510 driver works great. It enables duplexing from the print Dialog and proper greyscacle rendering. Both of which I couldn't get before. The CLP-510 driver is great!

Is the Xerox problem on all Phaser printers or just the 6100?
I have a phaser 860. Can't test it out though until I receive my copy of TIGER - in the mail!!! (:-(

Xerox Phaser 6100 Driver Mac Os X Windows 10
From Xerox
'Thank you for contacting the North American E-mail Support Team. I have put a copy of the new driver on our FTP website. To get the copy of the driver go to ftp://ftp.tekcolor.com and download and install Phaser6100_macos10.4_en. This driver should take care of the problems you are having.' The actual site is ftp://ftp.tekcolor.com/outgoing/ (Use Firefox or a FTP client, not the finder) This is a patch; the real drivers are to come later on the Xerox site.

Ok mate I recently updated to 10.4.2
Since i was unable to find the updater marty was speaking about I google around and i found good tips from macintouch http://www.macintouch.com/tiger05.html follow these 10 simple steps: 1. In Print Center's Printer List, click the 'Add' button, to add a new printer 2. In the Printer Browser window that pops up, click the 'IP Printer' tab at the top of the window - this will allow you to connect to your printer using a TCP/IP- based protocol 3. In the 'Protocol' menu, select 'Line Printer Daemon - LPD' 4. In the 'Address' field, enter the IP address of your Samsung printer - you can check your printer's IP address by printing its 'Configuration Page'. 5. Leave the 'Queue' field blank 6. In the 'Name' field, enter any name you'd like to use for your printer (Ex: 'Samsung CLP-500') 7. Leave 'Location' blank 8. In the 'Print Using' menu, select 'Samsung' 9. The window extends, and your printer model should appear inside a selectable list. Select it. 10. Click the 'Add' button, to add the printer to your Printer List! Done! Works like a charm, and your computer should be able to print to it again anyway I have to add that using the Xerox driver on 10.4 to 10.4.1 worked for me. For 10.4.2 I had to use the Samsung CLP-510n driver
